Every day, REDRESS helps torture survivors and their families in times of need. Your donation can make a real difference to their lives.
REDRESS works with and for torture survivors to bring legal claims to obtain justice and reparation on their behalf. Our clients are often from profoundly marginalized communities – refugees, exiles, women, children, and LGBTI. Many are members of groups who have escaped conflict, and live in exile within their communities who find themselves with nothing, while trying to deal with the life-changing physical and psychological impact of their ill-treatment.
REDRESS’ work is always driven by the obstacles faced by survivors and is designed specifically to tackle deep-seated barriers impeding survivors’ access to justice.
The sense of injustice that accompanies torture and the typical absence of recognition of the crime often inhibits survivors’ from re-establishing control over their lives.
“Without REDRESS it would be a lot harder to defend the rights of persons who are persecuted around the world” – Juan Méndez, torture survivor and former United Nations Special Rapporteur on Torture.
REDRESS is needed now more than ever. We are committed to achieve our vision of a world without torture.
As all our work is free of charge for survivors and their family members, we rely on the generosity of supporters like you to continue achieving positive judgements and outcomes for torture survivors that can have a long-lasting impact on the lives of survivors.
With your support we can make a difference to the lives of a substantial number of particularly disadvantaged people, bringing benefits to the individuals and communities concerned, both directly and indirectly.
