The enforcement of reparation judgments or decisions is an essential part of the right to a remedy and reparation, but too often the practical enforcement of positive judgments or awards can be difficult. This report analyses how individual decisions from domestic and regional and international courts and treaty bodies are implemented in practice. It provides an overview of the wide range of remedies and mechanisms available to victims of torture and other international crimes. It also addresses instances in which truth and reconciliation commissions recommend reparation to victims or where governments have implemented reparation programmes to compensate massive and/or systematic past violations.
