Civil Society Submissions to the UN Human Rights Council

Tanzania is preparing for its 4th Universal Periodic Review (UPR) before the United Nations Human Rights Council during the 53rd Session of the UPR Working Group in late 2026.

As part of this process, Tanzanian, African and international civil society organisations have come together to document key human rights concerns and make submissions aimed at informing the review.

Submissions made

Submitted by: Tanganyika Law Society (TLS) and Pan African Lawyers Union (PALU)

Towards the review

These submissions highlight a broad range of human rights concerns and provide recommendations for Tanzania to strengthen its compliance with its national, regional and international human rights obligations.
