REDRESS Internship

REDRESS is seeking applications from excellent graduates, postgraduates and individuals in the early stages of their careers with a strong background in international human rights law to contribute to its work in either London or The Hague.

We seek to provide REDRESS interns with the experience of working in an NGO, and so each REDRESS intern is likely to work on a number of assignments at the same time. These include independent research on torture cases at national, regional and international level; background and policy research for reports and submissions before regional or international courts and UN mechanisms (and possibly some initial drafting); assisting with project work, including developing and implementing training programs, and organising events; attending meetings on behalf of REDRESS and reporting back; fundraising and communications work; and administrative tasks as required.

About REDRESS

REDRESS is an international human rights organisation that represents victims of torture to obtain justice and reparations. We bring legal cases in a range of international courts and tribunals on behalf of individual survivors, and advocate for better laws to provide effective reparations. Our cases respond to torture as an individual crime in domestic and international law, as a civil wrong with individual responsibility, and as a human rights violation with state responsibility.

REDRESS supports the progressive development of the International Criminal Court (ICC) as an institution that complements national trials to deliver justice for victims of international crimes, with a focus on victims’ rights, including participation, protection, legal representation, and reparations. We coordinate the Victims’ Rights Working Group, an informal global network of experts and advocates working to promote justice for victims of international crimes.
