EVENT: Reparations for Survivors of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence in Africa

REDRESS and the Global Survivors Fund will host a side-event to the 73rd ordinary session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) on reparations for survivors of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) in Africa.
The event will be introduced by Commissioner Maya Sahli-Fadel and organised in two sessions:
- Survivors’ voices and the Kinshasa Declaration: CRSV survivors from DRC, Gambia, Kenya, and Uganda;
- The role of the African Commission in making reparations effective, with Commissioner Janet R. Sallah-Njie, Special rapporteur on the rights of women in Africa, and Jacqueline Moudeina, a lawyer from Chad who fights for the rights of survivors of the Habré regime.
The event will be followed by a reception and an opportunity to exchange with the Commissioners, the survivors and the other panel members.
