Well done #TeamREDRESS at the Virtual London Marathon 2020!
Congratulate #TeamREDRESS by donating
On Sunday, Chris, Ellie, George, John and Walker each ran 26.2 miles through the rain to complete the Virtual London Marathon 2020 on behalf of REDRESS. We’re so proud of their efforts and grateful for all the fundraising they’ve done to support our mission to end torture and achieve justice for torture survivors. There is still time to congratulate the team by making a contribution to our marathon fundraiser. With torture cases on the rise around the world in the context of COVID-19, your donations are more vital than ever. Click the buttons on this page to visit our JustGiving team page.
With the normal marathon reserved for elite runners only, our team mapped their own routes through their local streets and parks, tracking the run on app so they could receive their official finisher’s T-shirt and medal. The postponement of the marathon from April to October brought some predictable extra challenges – rain and cold! Hot baths and steaming mugs of tea were needed by all at the finish line, but the weather didn’t stop the enthusiasm, and all our runners were supported along the way by friends and family.
“I was extremely grateful to have my family in support on the day and also to one of my friends who ran the second half of the race with me and made sure I got over the finish line,” said George. “Although the conditions weren’t the best, it still didn’t dampen the buzz of the day.”
Thank you once again to the team and everyone who has donated to their fundraisers so far. Our fundraising work continues, so please consider donating today to help end torture.
